Minutes for Week 1 - 12.03.09

To improve productivity and assist in the organisation and distribution of work, Team Omega decided that assigning and documenting minutes would be extremely beneficial. We aim to do this on a weekly basis. After each list of Minutes we will conclude by appraising our efficiency and productivity.

1:00
Stephen Peter introduces Graduation Project Arch 1392 and shows work from last year. Stephen mentions that we should try broadening our scope of choice for Graduation Project, and recommends we begin to think about our clients so we can hit the ground running in Semester 2.

1:20
Jeremy Harkins introduces "Arch1392 Digital Collaboration Studio" along with assisting staff Graham Hannah and Stephen Peter.
Directs the class to course out line: http://www.fbe.unsw.edu.au/courses/arch/1392/2009s1%20ARCH1392%20Digital%20Collaboration%20Studio%20Outline.pdf and explains our project for the semester.
In groups of four we have to construct a significant piece of architecture (not specified to a building, can be a concept for a town etc.) that has not been built. We also pick our teams of four from a trendy little
hat that Jeremy so fashionably wears!

3:00
- The four of us that picked out number ‘one’ from the hat met each other.
- Introduced our strengths and backgrounds.
- Exchanged numbers, emails and availability during the week (for future reference)
- Came up with group name: Team Omega

3:30
- Created a group blog & group email: team.omega@live.com
- Briefly explored the possibility of being able to import foreign files into CryEngine i.e 3ds Max files or Sketchup files; further research required!

3:45
- Began tutorial provided by Jeremy http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=11847&p=1
- Problems at first, the tutorial expects the user to have prior knowledge of the program, like navigating the interface.

4:15
-Began tutorial provided by Jeremy http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=11847&p=1
- Problems at first, the tutorial expects the user to have prior knowledge of the program, like navigating the interface.

4:30
- Continued on with tutorials
- Completed “creating a new map”

4:50
- Completed “Vegetation”

Conclusion
For our first week, we feel that Team Omega was quite efficient. We managed to complete the majority of the logistical work. One thing that we could work on is our diligence to particular tasks. As you can see we became a little distracted from the tutorial and explored other things like importing foreign media or visiting other websites for project possibilities; if we worked on the tutorial, and allocated time at the end for these things then we would have been a lot more efficient in completing the tutorial. However, our distractions did assist the overall project so that was a positive.
